Global Learning’s History
Global Learning’s ethos and spirit are rooted in its remarkable past. Jana Kiser started the organization as a nineteen-year-old college student in the mountains of Missoula, Montana. In its first decade of operation, Global Learning reached between three and four thousand children annually and provided virtually free international volunteer opportunities to hundreds of young leaders from around the world, without one paid employee. Fueled by its volunteers’ extraordinary passion, commitment, and talent, Global Learning is funded primarily by individual donors, grassroots fund-raising done by volunteers, and generous in-kind donations.
